To add more to the wondering about how Rundgren and Thornton
created their Toaster farms, I can confirm that Rundgren
did not have a network for the production of "Change Myself,"
he had a big hard drive that he (or his assistants) toted
from machine to machine to capture the frames it had saved
to its local hard disk.

Today, I believe both Rundgren and Thornton are using
Novell networks crafted by Thornton, or more precisely,
Paul Beigle-Bryant, his more computer-literate assistant.
(Thornton is more of a modeler than a hacker, actually.)

So, they have a Novell server and Oxxi's Novell client
software on each Amiga, connected via Ethernet.  The PC
has a big hard disk, and the farm-ette Toasters save
and share data on the PC's hard drive.  There's no
peer-to-peer activity per se, only shared info to the
central hard disk.  This is not optimal for Amigas, of
course.  I suggest a little patience, for Commodore
has promised more low-cost and more Amiga-like networking
solutions.
